Odyssey ESA marketplace providers: state-by-state verification guide

Odyssey powers ESA marketplaces in multiple states, but each state maintains its own enrolled-vendor list. Here is how to find approved providers in your state's Odyssey program — and how to avoid assuming a vendor is enrolled just because they appear in another state.

What Odyssey is and how it works

Odyssey is the marketplace platform developed by ClassWallet that several state ESA programs use for vendor management, family account access, and purchase processing. Families with an Odyssey-based ESA log in to a single interface to shop from enrolled providers, view their balance, and track spending history.

The platform is structured similarly across states, but the vendor lists, eligible expense rules, and program-specific features differ by state. Logging into your Texas TEFA Odyssey account shows only Texas-enrolled vendors; a Nevada family sees Nevada-enrolled vendors.

How vendor enrollment works in Odyssey

Vendors apply through the Odyssey vendor portal, which is managed by ClassWallet. Enrollment is free and open to any provider type — curriculum companies, tutors, private schools, therapists, technology vendors, and enrichment programs. Vendors must agree to program terms and may need to pass a basic vetting process before becoming active.

After enrollment, vendors appear in the marketplace for families to browse and purchase from. Vendors can enroll in multiple state programs simultaneously if they serve families in more than one state.

Finding providers by category

The Odyssey marketplace organizes vendors into searchable categories, which typically include:

  • Curriculum and instructional materials — physical and digital curriculum packages
  • Tutoring and instruction — individual tutors and tutoring centers
  • Private schools and microschools — tuition-charging educational institutions
  • Therapies and special education services — licensed SLP, OT, PT, and ABA providers
  • Technology and software — educational apps, devices, and platforms
  • Extracurricular and enrichment — arts, sports, coding, and more

Texas-specific Odyssey guidance

Texas TEFA is the largest Odyssey-based program. Dedicated guides cover each major provider category:

What to do when a provider is not in Odyssey

Share the Odyssey vendor enrollment information with the provider and ask them to apply. The process is free, and many providers — especially independent tutors and small clinics — are simply unaware they can enroll. Enrollment typically takes one to four weeks.

In the meantime, search for enrolled alternatives using the category and location filters in the marketplace. For denial-prevention best practices, see How to avoid ESA purchase denials.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Odyssey ESA marketplace?
Odyssey is a marketplace platform built by ClassWallet that several states use to administer ESA programs. Families log in to browse enrolled vendors, make purchases, and manage their ESA balance. Texas TEFA and Nevada's ESA program are among the programs that use Odyssey as their primary spending platform.
Are Odyssey vendor lists the same across all states?
No. Each state using Odyssey maintains a separate enrolled-vendor list. A vendor enrolled in Texas TEFA's Odyssey marketplace is not automatically enrolled in Nevada's. You must verify vendor enrollment in the specific state program you are enrolled in.
How do I search for a vendor in the Odyssey marketplace?
Log in to your Odyssey account, go to the marketplace, and use the search bar or category filters to find vendors by name, service type, or location. The marketplace is searchable without purchasing — browse first, then buy.
Can vendors from outside my state enroll in my Odyssey program?
Yes, in many cases. Online and remote providers — tutors, therapists, curriculum companies — can enroll in Odyssey programs across multiple states. Physical service providers like local private schools typically enroll only in the state where they operate.
How does Odyssey compare to ClassWallet as a shopping experience?
Odyssey is actually built on the ClassWallet platform — they share the same underlying technology. The experience is largely the same: log in, search vendors, add to cart, check out with your ESA balance. The differences are in which vendors are enrolled and which state-specific rules apply.
What happens if I make a purchase through Odyssey and the vendor refunds me?
Refunds from Odyssey purchases typically return to your ESA account balance, not to a personal bank account. Contact the vendor first, and if the transaction was made through Odyssey, the refund should flow back through the same system. Contact your program administrator if a refund does not appear within 10 business days.
