By The School Choice Index Editorial Team · Published · Last reviewed
The School Choice Index is published as a public-interest editorial reference. We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to operate the site and improve our editorial coverage.
What we collect
We collect aggregated, anonymized usage data through two analytics services: Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity. These tools record page views, referrer, approximate country, device class, and on-page behavior (such as scroll depth and click patterns). Neither service receives personally identifying information from us. We do not set advertising cookies. We do not fingerprint visitors. We do not sell visitor data. Data shared with Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity is described above; we do not share visitor data with other third parties. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on ↗.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address and the date you subscribed with our email service provider. We use that data only to send the newsletter. To unsubscribe, click the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or email privacy@theschoolchoiceindex.com. We process unsubscribe requests promptly and stop sending within 10 business days. We do not sell, rent, or trade subscriber addresses to any third party. Your address is shared with our email-delivery service provider solely to send the newsletter.
Service providers
We use the following third-party service providers. Each operates under its own privacy policy and data-processing agreement. We share only the minimum data necessary for each provider to perform its function and do not authorize any provider to use visitor data for their own marketing.
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregated, anonymized usage analytics (page views, referrer, device class, approximate country). We do not share names or email addresses with Google Analytics. Google Privacy Policy ↗
- Microsoft Clarity — on-page behavior analytics (scroll depth, click patterns, session recordings in anonymized/aggregated form). We do not share names or email addresses with Microsoft Clarity. Microsoft Privacy Policy ↗
- Email delivery provider — used to send the newsletter to subscribers. Stores subscriber email addresses and delivery metadata only. Not authorized to market to subscribers independently.
We do not use advertising networks, ad-targeting pixels, or third-party behavioral tracking beyond the analytics described above. If we add a material new service provider that processes visitor data, we will update this section before or at the time of adding it.
Children
The site is written for adults — parents, school leaders, and journalists. We do not knowingly collect data from children under thirteen.
Your rights
If you believe we hold personal data about you (typically only the case if you are on the newsletter list), you may request its deletion by emailing privacy@theschoolchoiceindex.com. We respond to deletion requests within thirty days.
